Mortimer Forest is 2500 acres of woodland managed by Forest Enterprise. Named after Ralph de Mortimer who fought at the Battle of Hastings it has been stongly influenced by the proximity of Ludlow. It was these woods that provided the huge quantity of firewood needed to warm the inhabitants of Ludlow Castle and today careful management of the woods and its wildlife has made it such a special place to explore
Text Box: South Shropshire is steeped in a history going back to the ice age. Hill top forts, deer enclosures, ancient fossils, breathtaking views all combine to make a memorable trip. Many of the places are off the beaten track and by their very nature only accessible on foot or by 4x4. Join us in our well equipped Land Rovers taking in many of these sights. We use guides with an intimate knowledge of the area and vary the route on the day so that we do not cause any damage to the environment. Itinerarys can be arranged to suit clients particular interests
